KARI – Analog Intelligence in a Digital World

KARI graduated as a four-dimensional artist from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tilburg and currently works as a visual arts educator in Eindhoven. Under his alter ego Tachini, he gained recognition in the past as a live techno artist, performing at iconic venues such as Effenaar, Tivoli, and Paradiso, as well as major festivals like Awakenings and STRP.
His musical background continues to shape his current visual work and serves as a vital foundation for his artistic practice.

KARI is known for his unconventional interpretation of "AI" – Analog Intelligence. Rather than creating digitally driven four-dimensional works, he applies the cut-and-paste principles of his musical past to craft handmade, analog visual art. Working with found materials – from glossy magazines to used canvases – he “samples” and assembles them into layered compositions that speak powerfully through both form and color. His work is a fusion of past and future, craftsmanship and experimentation.
AI – "Analog Intelligence"
KARI’s concept of Analog Intelligence reflects his personal and rebellious approach to creativity. While digital technologies often pursue perfection, KARI draws strength from the imperfections inherent in analog processes. Through timeless techniques such as cutting, pasting, and rearranging existing materials, he creates artworks that not only stimulate visually but also carry a deeper, often personal, narrative.

The power of Analog Intelligence comes to life in KARI’s work through the use of samples – materials that already bear a history. He transforms these fragments into something new: each piece contains a past, a story that enriches the final composition.
By reassembling these samples, he builds layered works that open up new, often unexpected perspectives. Each piece becomes a window into another time, another world, inviting the viewer to look beyond the surface and discover the beauty of reuse.

SAMPLING
In KARI’s world, nothing is ever truly lost. Everything holds the potential to be rediscovered, sampled, and transformed into something meaningful. It is this approach that makes his work unique: a celebration of Analog Intelligence and a tribute to craftsmanship in an increasingly digital world.
The Beauty of ImperfectioN
KARI not only redefines what creativity means, but also how we experience beauty. Rather than seeking digital flawlessness, he embraces the imperfections that come with craftsmanship. Within those flaws lies a unique charm: traces of the past that echo through the new, irregularities that add character, and an aesthetic that arises from repurposing everyday materials.
Through the lens of Analog Intelligence, KARI creates a dialogue between old and new, between recognition and surprise. He invites us to expand our view, deepen our perception of art, and reconsider the value of both materials and process. Each work is a call to reflect – an invitation to look beyond superficial aesthetics and embrace the richness of the imperfect.
